X-Com Alliance

Postby Leo(T.C.K.) » Wed 30 Jun 2010 22:44

It was FPS on Unreal engine, sadly it was cancelled, but looked pretty impressive.

I got in contact with a level designer who has full build, although it is unsure if he can release it or not.

So if it gets released it should be kept in secret who released it....

I wonder if they are taking any inspiration for the new X-Com FPS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdVb4UnqO7A&feature=fvw

It would be great to preserve the cancelled X-Com Alliance, let us know if you have any news about it Leo!

They probably didn't have any inspiration for that, the new x com is nothing like that old game. Some assets from Alliance ended up in Enforcer I have heard, but that was awful game.
It was told to me that the cancellation of Alliance happened when Hasbro bought Microprose, similar stuff as happened to some projects with Infogrames in lead. But that's unfortunately how the game industry goes.

Interesting info, i did not know about this.. who knows, maybe Alliance would have been bad too :v:

Also, maybe some features of Alliance were reused for Enforcer: http://uk.pc.ign.com/objects/015/015224.html

Some more screens in here http://www.3d-jeff.com/alliance_01.html

No, it wouldn't be bad really and I trust words of him on that. Just look at the trailer, it is totally different game, the Enforcer was arcade like third person game with full of nonsenses.

He also said that the game had two phases, one in UK and another one in US later on. He worked on it when it was still produced at UK.

Any updates on this ?
I'm guessing it's not good news though :(

Any chance we get to find a build of X-Com Genesis?

If you want to write a short description of Genesis and upload those videos on YT (or another streaming site), i'll be happy to add the game to U64!

Hey monokoma, I found this fantastic site with a few screenshots from X-Com Genesis, Alliance and another cancelled title based on the X-Com Series called Dreamland Chronicles.
Have a look!

I've got 2 videos right now, one shows the battle engine, with a typical city setup at night and the other one is just a running animation for the soldiers if memory serves me right. I can't play the animation video for whatever reason, I fear it may be corrupted. I'm pretty sure I got it from some guy's portfolio. He had presumably worked on the game.
Want me to send it to you and try for yourself?

I am checking with the person who has the Alliance beta, but he hasn't answered me for a while now, hope this won't be lost then.
